Our mission in practice

Sveriges Religiösa Råd works practically to support Muslims in Sweden in their religious lives and to strengthen cooperation between different parts of society. Our work includes, among other things:

  • Support associations, mosques and places of worship in the practice of Islam - including by organizing Friday prayers, fasting month prayers, holidays, funeral prayers and Islamic weddings
  • Offer spiritual care, religious support, teaching and assistance
  • Help to resolve family conflicts and provide general advice
  • Be an active voice in public discussions about ethics and spirituality
  • Function as a gathering place for people with religious knowledge, who can issue scientific and legal opinions on issues related to Muslims in Sweden
  • Act within the Sunni Muslim orientation and recognize the four traditional schools of law - Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i and Hanbali - and collaborate with other actors for the benefit of society
