The Swedish Council of Religious Affairs brings together imams, religious leaders and experts to strengthen religious knowledge, provide guidance and promote cooperation on issues affecting Muslims in Sweden.
Through education, community dialogue and religious guidance, we work towards a safe and inclusive society where faith, responsibility and active citizenship go hand in hand.
Who we are
A national council for knowledge and cooperation
We unite imams, religious leaders and experts from different parts of Sweden. Together, we develop knowledge, guidance and cooperation in matters relating to the religious lives and participation of Muslims in society.

Our work is based on four fundamental principles that combine religious knowledge with human dignity, social responsibility and respect for Swedish law.

We uphold the dignity, freedom, and right to a safe and respectful treatment of every individual.

We promote understanding and peaceful cooperation between religious organizations, governments, and civil society.
Citizenship and participation
We encourage Muslims to actively and responsibly participate in Swedish society.

Our guidance is based on reliable knowledge, responsible leadership and respect for Swedish law.

OUR STORY
From initiative to national council
The Council's work began in 2003 through an initiative from the Imam Malik Center to bring together imams and religious leaders.
In 2017, the organization was officially registered as the Swedish Council of Religions. Today, the council works with knowledge, guidance, education and public dialogue in Sweden.
